Week 10: Podcasts and Audio
Podcasting is an interesting blend of audio and online information. I would like to explore podcasting and it's various applications further if I have the time. Maybe I'll try to download some podcasts to the MP3 player that we get following the conclusion of the Learn 2.0 course.
Week 9: Digital Music
Digital Rights Management is an important concern regarding Digital Music. I prefer listening to vinyl LPs , but those are getting harder to come by. If I purchase a CD by an artist, I feel I am legally entitled to make at least 1 copy to play at work or on the road, etc. There needs to be a common meeting place in regards to the rights of recording artists and the rights of consumers who hand over their hard-earned money to buy major label CDs, etc. I can openly admit that the Macintosh computer rules, but I'm not really a big fan of Apple's Ipod or Itunes. Is hardware/software exclusivity regarding Digital Music downloads ever a good thing? Metallica and Napster have both become increasingly annoying for reasons too lengthy to go into in this blog posting. If you are a true fan of an artist, you need to get down to your local independent record store and buy the official release, or download it through legal means. Artists deserve to make a living just like everyone else.
Week 8: Sharing Information
Flickr seems to be a very cool site if you are into photography. Definitely makes me want to get a Digital Camera and start taking pictures. I like On-line Learning very much. It allows me to work at my own pace. I am part of a 3 person team working on the Learn 2.0 course. We all try to help each other out with any problems that may arise. So far, it is working out fine. At this point in time, we have not had the opportunity to reach out to another location at OCLS regarding the Learn 2.0 course.
Week 7: Fun Stuff
Being a fan of the feline species , I enjoyed visiting the Catster site and exploring all it had to offer. Chugged and Bottletalk were fairly interesting. Beer and Wine are okay, but I am a Vodka fan myself. Vodkaphiles.com is a cool site with lots of user reviews on your favorite Vodkas.
Week 6: Library Thing
Out of all of the Web 2.o library applications that we covered this week, Shelfari is probably my favorite. I have not yet signed up for an account, but would like to. I have about 200 books on film and cinema studies, etc. I would be nice to organize them in some sort of fashion for easier access in the future. A version of Shelfari for DVDs would be highly welcome as well. PopUrls is a fairly interesting site to explore if you have some free time on your hands.
Week 5: Play Week
I watched the You Tube video on the Cambridge economists and their rush for library books. I only live 2 miles from the library, so my Tuesday morning rush is a little less stressful. I also created a Meez avatar and inserted it into my Blog. Some claim that it is a digital version of Ryan Adams, but any resemblance is purely coincidental.
